Empowering the Future: Opportunity Youth Resource Fair to Support Job Corps Participants

Local organizations are coming together to host the Opportunity Youth Resource Fair, a dynamic event designed to connect young adults transitioning out of Job Corps with the tools, resources, and support they need to succeed in the next stage of their lives.

The resource fair will take place on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 12 PM to 4 PM at Samaritan Center Gymnasium, 5555 Conner, Detroit. This event is open to all Job Corps participants who were recently displaced and opportunity youth seeking pathways to employment, education, training, housing, and more.

What to Expect:

Career & Education Opportunities: Meet with Detroit @ Work career navigators, High School Completion and GED enrollment, and pre-apprenticeship programs

Support Services: Access information on housing, healthcare, self-care, transportation, and mental health resources.

The fair is a collaborative effort between SER Metro-Detroit, Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation (DESC), Black Family Development, Inc (BFDI), Alternatives for Girls and The Phoenix Center and is part of a broader commitment to uplift opportunity youth — individuals aged 16–24 who are not currently engaged in school or employment.
