Eligibility Requirements
  • Detroit resident
  • 18 years old or older
  • Unemployed or under-employed
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Minimum 6th-grade reading/math level (assessed via CASAS test)

ReBuild Detroit is a free, eight-week Apprenticeship Readiness Training Program licensed by the State of Michigan and powered by SER Metro Detroit. Designed to prepare Detroit residents for careers in the construction trades, this program offers a direct pathway into apprenticeships and long-term employment in the skilled trades industry.

Whether you’re new to the field or have prior experience, ReBuild Detroit provides the tools, training, and support to help you succeed. A fast-track option is available for individuals with relevant work experience, evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

What You’ll Learn

Participants receive hands-on and classroom-based training focused on:

  • Applied Math & Reading
  • Introduction to Building Trades and Unions
  • Soft Skills & Workplace Readiness
  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • CPR/First Aid/AED Training
  • M.U.S.T. Registration (Management & Unions Serving Together)
  • WorkKeys & National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)
  • Capstone Project (hands-on experience)
Program Details
  • Next Cohort Starts: November 10,2025
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Location: SER Metro-Detroit, 9301 Michigan
  • Stipend: $700+ (based on attendance and completion; subject to change)
  • Support Services: Transportation Assistance, Work Gear and Tools, and Others based on need
