Rocket Community Fund to support critical education and vocational training services for Detroit residents through a $150,000 grant to SER Metro-Detroit.
DETROIT– SER Metro-Detroit, Jobs for Progress, Inc. announced today they received a $150,000 grant from Rocket Community Fund to support educational advancement and upward economic mobility for 160 Detroiters through the new SER Construction Talent Hub.
As the need for alternative education and vocational training opportunities continues to increase, the SER Construction Talent Hub will engage and reconnect Detroit’s youth and adults and provide academic and vocational training services critical to their economic and emotional well-being.
“We are extremely proud and honored to have the Rocket Community Fund as our partner in providing educational and employment services to the most economically challenged members of Detroit community,” said Eva Garza Dewaelsche, SER Metro-Detroit’s President and CEO. “Many of us who were fortunate enough in life understand that a path to economic independence and success begins with access to education and training. This grant will help us to provide access to a range of educational, training, and employment services that will lead to increased job readiness and employment for 200 impoverished residents that would not be possible without the generous support from the Rocket Community Fund.”
The mission of the Rocket Community Fund is to support inclusive, thriving and resilient communities by making data-driven investments in housing, employment, and public life. This partnership with SER Metro-Detroit will create pathways to employment and economic opportunity for Detroit residents.
“Quality job training is essential to unlocking new opportunities for Detroit residents,” said Laura Grannemann, Vice President of the Rocket Community Fund. “Through our partnership with SER Metro-Detroit, we look forward to supporting hundreds of Detroit residents as they develop new skills and connect with meaningful career opportunities.”
Through its unique three-Tier approach, each designed to address and meet specific needs of each participant, the SER Construction Talent Hub will increase academic, occupational and hands-on construction training skills for those interested in the skilled trades, thereby creating the next generation of talent pipeline to meet the post-pandemic industry demand for skilled workers.
