Innovative Partnerships

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Invests in Detroit

Fiat Chrysler is expected to bring 4,950 jobs to the city in 2020 after their investment of $1.6 billion in the expansion of its Mack Avenue facilities with a new plant, and $900 million to modernize its Jefferson North Assembly Plant for production. This is first major automotive plant being built in Detroit in decades and Detroiters had the first opportunity to apply Nearly 5,000 Detroiters attended workshops at the SER managed Detroit at Work Career Centers funded by the DESC at the Detroit at
Work Career Centers including the Samaritan Center, Northwest Activities 
Center and SER Metro Detroit Center and in late September 2019, FCA sent more than 11,000application invitations.  SER is proud of the role we played to help Detroiters gain access to these jobs and look forward our continued partnership with FCA.

The McGregor Fund

The McGregor Fund committed to a two-year $400,000 award to help SER provide adults and youth to pursue advanced education and training through the SER YouthBuild Learning Academy and the SER Bridges to Career Opportunities (BCO) Program. The funds will support participants with stipends, supportive services, and match funding for federally supported programming.

Department of Labor

The Department of Labor has partnered with SER since August 2014 when they awarded the Workforce Development Agency a demonstration grant to provide workforce services to Returning Citizens.

Department of Veteran Affairs

The MDVA is a partner in the SER managed Detroit at Work Career Centers and provides additional programming and support to veterans who are a priority of services in the Centers.

LISC Detroit

Detroit LISC proudly supports ReBuild Detroit through SER Metro’s Center for Working Families (CWF), providing Detroit residents the academic and work readiness skills necessary to enter into apprenticeships and employment within the building trades industry.

Michigan Works!

SER operates three out of eight MichiganWorks! Career Centers in Detroit, providing employment service to thousands of Detroit residents and connecting businesses with quality workforce solutions.

United Way

In partnership with Detroit LISC, UWEM supports the Bridges to Career Opportunities program that connects neighborhood residents to essential job readiness competencies, skills training, credentialing and supportive services. SER Metro is one of the four sites within the Greater Detroit CWF Network.

In addition, UWSEM supports SER Metro Opportunity Youth programming by providing resources to equip Detroit’s out-of-school and at-risk youth with the foundational skills they need to succeed in all aspects of life.

SER National

SER is part of the unified SER National family, a network of affiliates that serves over 1,000,000 individuals annually in over 20 states coast to coast. The network provides a variety of comprehensive programming throughout the country, assisting and placing thousands in unsubsidized employment.

Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation

DESC has partnered with SER since April 2015 when they first awarded the organization a $ 4.2 million dollar contract to administer the Detroit at Work Career Centers.

MDHHS

SER Metro-Detroit helps families and individuals by placing them into an intensive, results-oriented work participation program – PATH, where barriers to employment are identified and removed.

Samaritan Center

The Samaritan Center, on Detroit’s eastside, is a hub of educational, social, recreational, healthcare and community services. Through this joint mission, SER Metro-Detroit and Holy Cross Services and is Michigan’s largest one-stop, multi-service community center serving children, adults, seniors and families.
